How it works
Image luminance is sampled into a text grid and mapped to characters by visual density.
The generator compensates for the fact that monospaced characters are taller than they are wide, so the output keeps the source proportions. Choosing dark text on a light background automatically reverses density mapping so the tonal structure still reads correctly. No image data is uploaded or saved by the website.
